CEEE Grupo Equatorial reached more than 200,000 customers enrolled in the Social Electricity Tariff (TSEE), in the 72 municipalities served by the company in Rio Grande do Sul. Since June 2021, when Equatorial Energia took over the concession in Rio Grande do Sul and started the work of registering new families, this number (exactly 205,201 consumers) represents a 92% growth in the customer base with this benefit, or around 98 thousand new subscribers.
“This brand is important for CEEE Grupo Equatorial, since we were able to raise from 6% to 11% the percentage of consumers with THESE in relation to the total number of customers served by the company (1.8 million). The idea, of course, is that this participation will be even greater in 2023”, says the Commercial Superintendent of the energy company, Sérgio Oliveira.
Alert for more registrations
TSEE is a program that grants discounts of up to 65% on the value of the energy bill and benefits those enrolled in the Single Registry of the Federal Government identified as low income (monthly income per person of up to ½ minimum wage), quilombolas, indigenous people, people who receive o Benefit of Continuous Provision (BPC) or with a monthly family income of up to three minimum wages, with a member suffering from illness or pathology that requires the continued use of appliances or electrical equipment at home.
Even with the increase in customers with TSEE, CEEE Grupo Equatorial warns: there are people with the possibility of receiving the discount, but have never registered with the energy company and are missing the opportunity to pay a cheaper bill. In addition, there are those who are already registered, but may lose their right because they do not meet the necessary income or simply because of a lack of cadastral update.
“We have the potential to enroll another 208,000 families in the Social Electricity Tariff, so we ask eligible people to update their registrations every two years, with the Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS) of the Municipal Governments” , emphasizes Oliveira.
Visits to potential customers
CEEE Grupo Equatorial also does its part and continues to actively search for potential consumers. Agents from the partner company CGB Energia, which read energy consumption, are visiting customers who meet the criteria for granting the benefit. The company’s employees, in this case, are always properly uniformed, with an identification badge and carrying an application for recording images of consumer documents.
Customers who already have the NIS (Social Identification Number) do not need to wait for this visit and should look for accredited CEEE Grupo Equatorial service agencies or establishments to include the Social Tariff, taking the energy bill, NIS number and personal documents (RG and CPF).
The inclusion of families with these characteristics in the TSEE provides the opportunity to allocate resources from the personal budget to pay the energy bill for other needs, such as food and health. In 2022 alone, more than R$46 million in discounts were granted, boosting the economy of the 72 municipalities in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in the CEEE Grupo Equatorial concession area.
