Athletes from Leopold won medals at the Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro Championship (AJP Tour Gramado) held in Gramado on February 12th. The group was accompanied by Bruno Rodrigues, a teacher, coach of the athletes and owner of the academy to which they belong.
According to Rodrigues, the event makes it possible to reach points for participation in the Jiu-jitsu World Championship that will take place in Abu Dhabi.
“Our athletes achieved important results. We had the participation of 7 athletes who won 6 medals, 5 medals for 1st place and 1 medal for 2nd place”, he says.
Athletes who participated:
1st place – Pietra Andrade Schultz – Children’s Orange Belt
1st place – Tabata de Lima – Juvenile Blue Belt
1st place – José Daniel Louis Jean – Junior Blue Belt
1st place – João Pedro Goulart Rodrigues – Adult Blue Belt
1st place – Weverlyn Fernandes – Master 1 Purple Belt
2nd place – Bruno Rodrigues – Master 2 Black Belt. In addition to being an athlete / competitor, he also acted as a Coach and teacher.
The athlete Gustavo Pereira Diogo had an excellent performance, failing to fight for the medal only in the semifinal.
The Leopoldans had support from the Municipal Human Rights Department (Sedhu) and the company Lixa Sinos.
The athletes of Complexo Bruno Rodrigues Brazilian Jiu Jitsu already have a date for the next competition. On the 26th, they participate in the 2nd stage of the Copa Prime in Porto Alegre, which has a state scope.
“Our mission in jiu-jitsu, considered an art by so many, includes disseminating that this sport is about discipline, hierarchy, respect, quality of life, physical and mental well-being, integration and handling of situations, defeats and victories. In addition to physical development, jiu-jitsu helps with mental development,” emphasizes Rodrigues.
The group of athletes will meet with secretary Nadir Maria de Jesus in the coming days.
