The Copinho Legal program, which is an initiative of the SustenPlást Institute and follows the same model as Tampinha Legal, has collected, since 2020, four tons of plastic artifacts, such as cups, plates and cutlery. In March 2022, in just one delivery, the program received around two tons.
This year the quantity was repeated and, again, Copinho Legal received a delivery accounting for two tons. All material collected is reversed in financial resources, which are distributed in full to the assistance entities participating in the program.
According to Simara Souza, manager of the SustenPlást Institute, the program was created in order to create behavior-modifying actions regarding the proper destination of plastic waste, in addition to benefiting more charitable entities. “All plastic material is 100% recyclable, so the monomaterial plastic cups are applicable in this program. In this way, we expand our actions in favor of third sector assistance entities, as we increase our engagement regarding plastic and how it contributes positively to our society”, she explains.
The collection of materials is based on the Tampinha Legal program and works with the same logistics. They must be delivered separately in two ways: colored and with a print (logo), white and transparent.
The Cool Bottle Cap
Tampinha Legal is carried out by Instituto SustenPlást with the support of Movimento Plástico Transforma. Through actions that modify mass behavior, it increases the levels of clarification regarding the plastic material and its proper destination, promoting the circular economy to take place in practice.
All segments of society are invited to collect plastic lids and send them to charitable entities registered with Tampinha Legal, which seeks the best market valuation for the material.
The amounts obtained are allocated in full to the participating assistance entities without apportionment of material or transfers of amounts. The program does not receive commissions and/or gratuities on the collected material. In 2022, it surpassed BRL 2.5 million, 100% destined for participating assistance entities.
Recently, at Núcleo Porto Alegre/RS, it launched Copinho Legal which, following the model of Tampinha Legal, allocates funds obtained from the sale of plastic disposables (cups, plates and cutlery) to participating charities. Tampinha Legal operates in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Goiás, the Federal District and Bahia.
In Porto Alegre, Tampinha Legal has the strategic support of the Fundação Gaúcha dos Bancos Sociais da FIERGS. In addition to the app (Android and iOS) and website (tampinhalegal.com.br), where you can find various information such as the nearest collection points, assistance entities and participating companies, etc. It is also possible to follow Tampinha Legal through social networks, such as YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
