Affection, smiles, hugs and lots of news. The first day of the school year in 2023 for the approximately 18,000 students of the Municipal Education Network in Passo Fundo began with curiosity and the rediscovery of school spaces by students.
According to the Secretary of Education, Adriano Canabarro Teixeira, each of the more than 70 educational institutions that make up the network developed a special activity to welcome children and adolescents in kindergarten and elementary school. “There was a lot of joy, adaptation and curiosity on the part of the students”, said Teixeira.
For the secretary, the return to school is a special moment of welcome for students and also for the school community. “These first days work for the adaptation of students who join the network, for new teachers and servers and for everyone to integrate into the educational projects and programs that are being worked on in the Municipality”, he said, pointing out that the expectation is that , in 2023, the initiatives present indicators of progress, such as actions to combat educational inequality, for example, which have been guiding different actions within the SME since 2021, when students began to return, gradually and in stages, to face-to-face activities at Schools.
Teixeira also said that the investments of the Pedro Almeida administration in education and the understanding of the municipal government that this is a fundamental sector for the development of Passo Fundo, resulted in an improvement in student learning that exceeds 16%. “This indicator reveals that the actions carried out so far are generating positive effects and the trend is that we have even higher percentages based on the efforts of our teachers and workers in education, added to the constant programs that receive resources and special attention from the management of Mayor Pedro”, noted the secretary.
Reiterating the preoccupation of the municipal government with the improvement of teaching in Passo Fundo, the Secretary of Education cites a significant set of activities involving, for example, changes in the curriculum of schools; investments of more than R$ 12 million in infrastructure for educational use, such as notebooks, improvement of the internet network, tablets and televisions for classrooms; and the works of improvements and reforms in several schools of the Network.
new structure
Among the renovations and improvements in schools is the investment of BRL 780,000 in EMEF Urbano Ribas which, according to the secretary, received new internal and external painting, in addition to the complete replacement of the roof of the school’s oldest building; replacement of plumbing and sanitary parts, electrical overhaul and refurbishment of the floor of all classrooms and administrative areas, lobby, cafeteria and bathrooms.
Learning Maker Labs
Launched in 2022, the Maker Learning Laboratories are City Hall structures in elementary schools that seek to encourage and train students to use technological and digital tools. The first of them was installed at EMEF Daniel Dipp, but the mayor, Pedro Almeida, has already confirmed that each EMEF will receive one unit.
For the Secretary of Education, this action will increase the quality of education offered in the Network, valuing and encouraging aspects such as scientific thinking. “These Laboratories are spaces for creativity and problem solving that will support teachers with innovative pedagogical proposals. Together with this investment, teacher training is planned to appropriate the infrastructure in each school that will receive one of these units”, says Teixeira.
