The holidays are over for the kids from the municipal network of Canoas. This Monday (13), 5,605 children, from 0 to 5 years old, returned to school. In several Municipal Schools of Early Childhood Education (EMEIs), teams organized special activities to receive students for the beginning of the school year.
According to the Secretary of Education, Beth Colombo, the resumption of classes is a moment of great importance for parents, students and schools. “We are all very happy and excited about this upcoming school year. It is essential that in these early years, children have a ludic environmenthealthy and stimulating, so that they can develop in the best possible way”.
At EMEI Ledevino Piccinini, the teachers were all in costume and prepared a special reception for the students. The school was decorated with a decor that recalls the beach. “We prepared everything so that our children were received in the best possible way. We had very high expectations for this return and we hope it will be a wonderful school year”, highlighted the school principal, Renata Silva dos Santos.
Karolayne Machado, mother of Laura do Jardim 2, said that her daughter was excited to return to classes at EMEI Anísio Teixeira. “She always really liked the school, she never complained or was sad to come here. So, I have complete confidence in the environment, in the teachers and in the whole structure”.

Public education in Canoas has 39 EMEIs, 44 EMEFs, 60 accredited schools and two Center for Inclusive Education and Accessibility (CEIA) to serve children and students in the municipality. In addition to investments in renovations and reconstructions in 67 schools, the education network works with programs aimed at rescuing and caring for students in the post-pandemic period and literacy at the right age.
