Personal trainer Carlos Eduardo Santana, 31, died after suffering a sudden illness during a futsal match in Tijucas, on the coast of Santa Catarina, on Wednesday night (8). The death of the athlete, who participated in a tournament, was confirmed by the city hall.
The Fire Department was immediately activated by the Municipal Sports Foundation (FME), which sent Carlos Eduardo to São José Hospital. The staff, however, did not resist.
– The Municipal Administration of Tijucas and the FME deeply regret the early loss of this young man who so well represented his neighborhood. Our condolences to family, friends, and other members of the Areias team. May God comfort them in this moment of deep pain – lamented the municipal administration.
The athlete was participating in the XVIII Tijuquense Olympics, which had the games suspended for three days, due to the fatality.
– Out of respect for all athletes competing in the competition”. The matches will resume next Monday (13) – informed the city hall.
In addition to being a personal trainer and futsal player, Carlos Eduardo maintained a YouTube channel, where he shared tips on physical activities.
The athlete’s body was sent to São José do Rio Preto, in the interior of São Paulo, where it will be veiled and buried this Friday (10).
