Campo Bom now has 4 Voluntary Delivery Points (PEV) for glass collection, which will be sent for recycling. Containers are spread across public and private places, at strategic points for disposal.
For the mayor of Campo Bom, Luciano Orsi, the initiative is yet another proof of Verallia’s social and environmental responsibility. “It is a company that is concerned with the sustainable development of the city and that, precisely for this reason, has grown with the people of Campo Grande”, he observes. The municipal secretary for Economic Development, Henrique Scholz, also highlights Verallia’s recent investment in the expansion of the Campo Bom factory, 80 million euros, the largest in the city’s history.
In addition to Campo Bom, containers are being implemented in several other Brazilian cities and the goal is to reach 1,500 points by 2025.
Glass Becomes Glass Program
Created by Verallia, the Vidro Vira Vidro program expects to collect 24,000 tons of shards per year, which will help reduce CO2 emissions in the glass packaging manufacturing process, energy consumption and the use of virgin raw materials.
One of the differentials of the containers that are used is that they have sensor technology that allows optimization of logistics, so that the truck goes to the PEV only when necessary.

Investments in the region
Verallia announced, in 2021, an investment of 80 million euros to expand its business in Brazil. The destination is the construction of a new oven in Campo Bom, in Rio Grande do Sul, where the company already has a plant.
With the expansion of the Campo Bom plant, the expectation is to serve, preferably, the national market of wines and spirits. The forecast is that the new furnace will be fully operational in the fourth quarter of 2023. The expansion will allow more than doubling the production of glass packaging daily in the new facility alone.
