The Rio dos Sinos reached, this Wednesday (08), the lowest level in the intake of Comusa – Serviços de Água e Esgoto de Novo Hamburgo, located on Estrada Leopoldo Petry, since January last year, measuring 2.05m.
Despite still being at the level considered normal (from 2 meters), the persistent drought across the state and the indication of little rain in the coming days should reduce the level to levels below normal.
Despite this, there is no risk of rationing or widespread shortages. However, with the low level, the accumulation of pollution can make it difficult for the municipality to treat water. The recommendation is that the community continues to reduce waste and avoid excessive consumption of treated water.
The general director of Comusa and deputy mayor of Novo Hamburgo, Márcio Lüders, says that the time is for attention. “We need to be vigilant right now. We have been alerting the population since December about the importance of rationally consuming treated water in this summer period, because we know about the history of droughts here in the State. At this time, we reinforce this request, ”he says.
