The next 4th of March must go down in the history of the city of Three Crowns, in Vale do Paranhana, RS, and also in the memory of the participants of the ‘Accessible Camping’, an integration event that this year should repeat the milestone held in 2022: the longest accessible rafting descent in Brazil. The organizers expect to place 30 boats and a total of 200 people on the famous rapids of the Paranhana River simultaneously.
The activity is part of ‘Accessible Camping’, a non-profit event that takes place so that people with disabilities can practice adventure sports, promoting accessible tourism, social insertion, diversity and valuing accessibility in different ways.
In 2023, the event reaches its fourth edition and will offer seven different activities to participants, all free of charge. “In the first year, 30 people participated, last year we reached a thousand visitors, including people with disabilities and their companions. The expectation for this edition is to surpass this number”, says Gabriel Feiten, one of the creators and organizers of the event.
Carried out entirely by the effort of volunteers, in addition to visitors, the ‘Accessible Camping’ has also been gaining more collaborators each year. “Since it is an event at no cost to participants, we depend on partners, such as the city’s adventure parks that lend their teams with instructors, but we rely heavily on volunteers. This year we have around 120 volunteers to make the event happen, including people from other cities”, he comments.
The event takes place from 8 am to 6 pm at Raft Adventure Park, one of the parks located on the banks of the Paranhana River. In addition to rafting, visitors will have seven other sports and leisure modalities: archery, trails, river bathing, stand up paddle, adapted bocce, badminton and adapted and inclusive playground.
Those interested in participating in the great rafting descent must register in advance, where the general rules are also informed. The document is available at www.visitetrescoroas.com.br/campingacessivel2023. For the other modalities, registration takes place on the day, directly at the site, depending on the adherence and service capacity of the team. The organization will not charge admission, but asks that visitors who can, contribute with the donation of 1 kilo of food.
The ‘Accessible Camping’ is organized by the Association of People with Disabilities, Friends and Family of Três Coroas – Apdaf and the Municipal Council for Persons with Disabilities of Três Coroas. Support from Três Coroas City Hall, Três Coroas City Council, Raft Adventure Park, Brasil Raft, Central Sul Raft, Eco Aventuras, Exxtreme.4, NGO Caminhadores RS, Associação Trescoroense de Arqueirismo, FADERS, Fisio Run, Somos Um Só and MarKulino ´s, and sponsored by Romance Favorita, Samyras, Actvitta, RR Componentes and Tresco Park.
