The first doses of the vaccine against covid-19 for the immunization of children between 5 and 11 years of age arrived in the early hours of this Thursday (13.jan).
In this first shipment, Pfizer shipped 1.2 million doses. The batch is unloaded at Viracopos airport, in Campinas (SP) and will be sent to the states and municipalities to start the application. The forecast is that Brazil will receive a total of 4.3 million doses of the vaccine in January. In total, three batches of the immunizing agent will be delivered to the country.
According to the Ministry of Health, during the first quarter, almost 20 million pediatric doses should arrive in Brazil, intended for the target audience of 20.5 million children. In February, the forecast is that another 7.2 million will be delivered, and in March, 8.4 million.
It was defined that the child must go to the vaccination posts accompanied by parents or guardians or carry a written authorization. The vaccine schedule will be two doses, with an interval of eight weeks between applications.
The distribution will be made proportionally to the population aged 5 to 11 in each state and the Federal District, according to the Ministry of Health.
