The year has already started and a segment that always needs news is architecture. With that in mind, architect Silmara Lanatovitz, owner of Silmara Lanatovitz Architecture, Decoration & Design, visualizes some practices incorporated into the new normal and which follows as a trend for 2023.
“I believe that the intelligent use of some elements such as technology, the appreciation of Brazilian design and the use of surfaces that are easy to disinfect are permanently in the clients’ requests to architects, decorators and interior design”, says Silmara.
Lanatovitz describes 5 trends in the production of environments for this summer that are starting to gain volume in orders.
1. More integrated and compressed environments:
Another trend observed in the last two years is the preference for integrated environments for better collective use, especially the kitchen and living room. Now projects are asking for the unification and integration of various functions within the house and facilitation. The studio style reflects this trend. Apartments with compacted rooms and that have a bedroom that is delimited by their walls.
2. Valuing Brazilian design x Natural Elements:
The pandemic caused many people to leave the city for the interior and / or coast. In this temporary exodus, nature began to inspire much more. Light wood, straw, stones and terracotta colors will be present both in the external and internal areas, where natural lighting will also be highly valued. At the same time, renowned and anonymous Brazilian artists were highly valued.
3. Minimalism:
Minimalism never goes out of style and still remains one of the most applied styles in interiors. What adds as a trend for this year is that it has been making environments more welcoming, with hints of more classic colors, works of art and more fluid shapes.
4. Surfaces with new materials and balanced composition:
The change in mentality about the use of more synthetic materials is already seen with different eyes. More or less porous materials, carpets and mats with sanitizer and even ultraviolet lights and ozone are a trend. The disinfection of surfaces, placement of glass tops or stones in carpentry, fabrics that are easy to clean and the reduction of decoration items are also already observed. The awareness in the choice of materials, definition of spaces and practicality are now much more relevant factors for the elaboration of projects than just the aesthetic aspect.
5. More technology x Automation projects.
Larger houses and collective environments, such as condominiums, should have warmer and/or natural lighting. Thus, the automation of environments grew with the pandemic, such as suitability for vacuuming, automatic activation of appliances from a distance. and smart lights. Other functions that don’t leave people overloaded with so many tasks tend to grow even more.
