The third edition of Garibaldi’s Retro Carnival takes place on Saturday, February 18, from 5 pm. The procession will leave Rua Júlio de Castilhos, in front of the Administrative Center, passing by Igreja Matriz São Pedro, heading towards the Municipal Museum and going to the stage that will be installed on Rua Buarque de Macedo, in front of Café Luna Park.
Bloc do Bepi
The highlight of the event is the traditional Bloc do Bepi, which, in the form of a parade, performs carnival and samba marches, moving the community and tourists wherever they go. The name of the Block is an allusion to Giuseppe’s nickname in Talian – an Italian dialect, which recalls the figure of Giuseppe Garibaldi – the hero who gives the municipality its name.
Formed by instrumentalists from the Music School of the Garibaldi Municipal Orchestra, Banda Musical Profº Danilo Chisini, and entities, the Bloco do Bepi will present the anthem composed by the professor of the Music School of the Garibaldi Municipal Orchestra, Bruno Gelmini, and the samba plot composed by the member of the Banda do Aeroclube, Renan da Silva Poletto.
According to the Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Ana Pauline Mombach, the third edition of the event promises to further consolidate the carnival in Garibaldi. “The event is being organized with great affection to involve the entire community and visitors in yet another edition”, she highlights.
Carnaval Retro is promoted by the City of Garibaldi, through the Department of Tourism and Culture, and has the support of entities and volunteers.
