On Wednesday, January 25th, the storm sewers in the center of São Leopoldo were inspected by teams of divers. The action was coordinated by the Municipal Water and Sewage Service (Semae) and carried out by a third-party company.
The objective is to check whether the drainage networks have any type of obstruction. At first, the professionals did not find any type of residue that would block the flow of water. It was verified that, in some points, there is accumulation of sand.
The verified points are close to the pump houses of the Municipal Gymnasium and the Bus Station. Other teams carried out the work near Avenida João Corrêa.
Semae’s general director, Geison Freitas, explains that rainwater drainage networks are of great importance in the urban context, since they are responsible for collecting rainwater through underground galleries and conducting it to the Rio dos Sinos .
