Azul will allow the transport of dogs and cats weighing up to 10 kilos (animal + container) in the customer cabin from February 1st. Until then, hiring the service was only allowed for pets weighing up to 7 kilos.
The change in the animal’s weight is in line with Azul’s main objective, which is to provide its Customers with the best flight experience. According to the executive, Azul’s “pet friendly” service, which allows the animal to travel only in the customer cabin, is one of the factors that differentiate the company when choosing an airline.
In 2021, according to research carried out by the Pet Brasil Institute (IPB), Brazil ranked third in the world ranking of countries with the most pets. Also according to the IPB, the pet market turnover in 2021 was R$ 51.7 billion. Although the forecast is for double-digit growth, last year’s numbers have not yet been released.
According to the manager, Azul transports an average of 3,800 pets on board its flights every month.
