On Thursday (19), the City Hall of Canoas reopens the Northeast I Social Assistance Reference Center, CRAS Harmonia, located at Rua Sobral Pinto, nº 35. Inaugurated in 2007, the place has been closed since 2019.
The reopening, a strong demand from the community, will benefit families in the region who are in a situation of social vulnerability. The building underwent renovation, with an investment of around R$100,000 by the Municipality.
CRAS, linked to the Municipal Citizenship Secretariat, is the public body responsible for basic protection actions for the population. The location offers assistance to beneficiaries of social programs, such as the Auxílio Brasil/Bolsa Família, the Benefit of Continuous Provision (BPC) and the Program for Protection and Integral Assistance to the Family (PAIF).
From the functioning of CRAS Harmonia, Canoas will have five Reference Centers in Social Assistance. By 2021, the city had three. Also for the first half of this year, the delivery of the new Southeast CRAS (Niterói) is scheduled.
