Born in 1975, the BVLGARI ROMA line became BVLGARI BVLGARI in 1977. The 14 letters stamped on the bezel, like the emperor’s name on ancient Roman coins, recall the intensely Italian style of Bulgari, the “Roman Jeweler of Time”. Propelling a brand name to the status of a strong design element in a watch was a revolution at the time and remains a powerful statement.
Bearing a name so affirmed with complete freedom requires boldness! The alliance between Bulgari and LISA was an obvious choice. The artist also composes her own codes that are incredibly in tune with the times. The “Unexpected Wonders” campaign made LISA the face of BVLGARI BVLGARI.
The strength of a star
LISA personally chose and designed her representation of her favorite flower, the edelweiss: a very Swiss alpine star and a tribute to the country she loves and where the Bulgari watch manufacture is located. In the center of the petals, the singer drew her own initial, an “L” that recalls her involvement in this project. This sketch is engraved on the back of the BVLGARI BVLGARI X LISA LIMITED EDITION, alongside the words “Fabriqué en Suisse” (French for “Made in Switzerland”). This beautiful and unique personalization also appears on the box, accompanied by LISA’s signature.
While the BVLGARI BVLGARI lettering is displayed on the bezel in rose gold, the dial is more minimalist. Its pure, idyllic color – green, blue, perhaps with a hint of purple? – was invented by Bulgari specifically for LISA. A hue that subtly changes with the light in the fine sunray pattern, as startling as LISA itself.
Twelve diamonds mark the hours on this dreamy face, followed by two rose gold hands. The equally precious rose gold crown is covered with a cabochon-cut rubellite, one of Bulgari’s aesthetic signatures.
