The Special Secretariat for Animal Welfare (Sebea) of Canoas rescued two kittens in the late afternoon of Tuesday (10). The animals were trapped in a rainwater pipe in the Rio Branco neighborhood.
According to Sebea’s secretary, Gabriel Gonçalves, the animals underwent veterinary evaluation and are doing well. “Fortunately, the kittens are doing well and were successfully rescued. They are being well treated and properly medicated. As soon as possible, they will be available for responsible adoption,” he said.
The puppies were rescued after a complaint by residents of the surrounding area, made on Sunday (8), who heard the meows after an unidentified person abandoned the two felines. Due to the fact that the kittens were in a difficult to reach location, the rescue began on Monday (9) with the responsible team setting up traps to be able to catch the animals and, finally, they were successful in the late afternoon of Tuesday (10) .
The rescue had the support of the Sudoeste Subprefecture and the Canoas Fire Department also participated in the rescue action.
