Mayor Adiló Didomenico signed, on the morning of Tuesday (01/30), the start order for the execution, by the Economic Research Institute Foundation (Fipe), of consultancy services for the determination of economic-financial imbalance, resulting of the pandemic period, in the urban public transport concession contracts in Caxias do Sul. The contractor will have a period of nine months, starting on Monday (01/09), to present the results of the audit.
The purpose of the contract is the lawsuit filed by Visate, which charges compensation in the amount of BRL 26 million to cover an alleged economic-financial imbalance determined during the term of the contract in 2020 and part of 2021.
Studies carried out by the departments of Traffic, Transport and Mobility and Management and Finance point to a much lower value. “Since there is a very large discrepancy, we decided to hire an organization with expertise in the matter, credible and impartial to determine the real value”, said the mayor during the act of signing the document.
The mayor added that, depending on the result of the audit, the Municipality may make a new contract to determine a loss of BRL 100 million that the concessionaire claims to have incurred in the period 2017-2019. “In a way, we are doing what was the motto of the campaign in 2016, but never fulfilled by the elected government, opening the dealership’s black box”, he compared.
Adiló recorded that the current administration does not owe any indemnity amount to the concessionaire regarding the new contract, signed in May 2021. November 2021, between City Hall and the concessionaire for the payment of BRL 4 million as an advance on possible contractual damages due to the pandemic.
The signing was accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Cristiano Becker da Silva; Attorney General Adriano Tacca; Secretary of Public Security, Paulo Roberto Rosa dos Santos; by the Secretary of Government, Grégora Fortuna do Passos; and by the Director of the Traffic Department, Cleberson Babetzki.
