The Hospital Beneficente São Vicente de Paulo, in Osório, will have another ten beds for hospitalization in the area of mental health through the Unified Health System (SUS). Five new beds will be installed by January 16th and another five at the end of the month. The cost of hospital vacancies will be by the Assistir Program, of the state government.
The announcement was made earlier this week by the Secretary of Health, Arita Bergmann, during a meeting on qualification and monitoring of the mental health hospital bed network in Rio Grande do Sul. “It is important to have more mental health beds on the North Coast”, considered the secretary. Osório is the center city of the 18th Regional Health Coordination (CRS).
The institution has a Reference Unit Specialized in Mental Health, part of the Psychosocial Care Network, and already has ten beds in operation. This unit is a reference hospital service for people with mental suffering or disorders, including those with needs resulting from the use of alcohol and other drugs.
Regulation and monitoring
During the meeting, the evolution of bed regulation coverage through the Gerint System (Admission Management) was presented. According to the technical team, since the computerized system was launched in 2019, initially in hospitals of two regional health coordination offices, the map table shows considerable progress in regulation, reaching 100% of the territory of Rio Grande do Sul.
There was also an evaluation of the hospital network with an emphasis on clinical and psychiatric hospitalization in all regions. The idea is to increase the percentage of beds per capita, which in some regions is still below the recommended level.
Another goal is the implementation of beds specialized in mental health for children and adolescents in all seven macro-regions of the State. So far, only the Northwest macro, in Santa Rosa, and the South macro, in São Lourenço do Sul, have this type of beds.
Also participating in the meeting were teams from the Department of Specialized Care Management (DGAE) and the Department of Primary Care and Health Policies (DAPPS).
