Canoas opens registration for the 1st Castration Tá On of 2023 this Friday (6). From 8 am, those interested must fill out a form available on the City Hall website, through this link. Dogs and cats protected by families registered in the Single Registrywith an income of three minimum wages and living in Canoas.
400 castrations will be offered, 100 of which for reserve registration, in the months of February, March and April. Up to three animals per family can be registered, with a maximum of two females, with one form for each animal. Castrations are always carried out on Mondays, at the headquarters of the Department of Animal Welfare (Sebea), located at Avenida Boqueirão, 1986, in the Igara neighborhood.
Sebea’s deputy secretary, Fabiane Borba, highlights the importance of the procedure for the health of animals and the fight against abandonment and mistreatment. “The fewer animals we have on the streets, the less cases of abandonment and accidents involving animals. Neutering also helps prevent health problems such as testicular, breast and uterine cancer, as well as preventing the spread of other diseases.”
This is the 9th edition of the program, which started in 2021. In 2022, Castração Tá On provided 930 free castrations for people in social vulnerability.

In order to schedule castrations with those registered, up to three attempts will be made to contact the person responsible, by means of a telephone call. If there is no success, the request will be closed and the vacancy will be passed on to the next animal on the list.
