Bagé is mobilizing itself to receive breeders from all over the south of the country and also from Uruguay and Argentina for the 15th edition of Agrovino. The event, held by the Bageense Association of Sheep Breeders (Abaco) and the Rural Association and Union of Bagé, will be held from January 10 to 14, 2023 at the rural park. And the expectation of the organization is another successful event. The promoters’ goal is to at least reach the turnover of the last fair, which was R$ 1.67 million.
According to the president of Abaco, Gustavo Velloso, this edition brings promoters a very great responsibility due to the growth that all previous editions have been marking. “The responsibility is very great both with the producers and with the customers and partners who participate in the fair. We saw that the demand for coming to Bagé is great, with creators from Paraná, Santa Catarina and various parts of Rio Grande do Sul calling and booking a hotel to participate in Agrovino”, he highlights, adding that the event will have international representation with Argentine judges and creators Uruguayans.
Velloso points out that Agrovino is already considered one of the main fairs in the sheep sector in Rio Grande do Sul and Brazil. And the high demand already gives an idea of the proportion that the event has been taking. “This gives us a final push to organize the last details. We want to receive all participants in the best possible way within our park, which has a very good structure and this allows us to receive all these people who come from outside”, he emphasizes.
During the event, four auctions of prestigious cabanhas will be held in addition to the Agrovino auction, with more than a thousand animals of different breeds registered for the auction. Another highlight will be a ranked exhibition of the Texel breed. Meat will also have its space with debates and tastings. “We will have the Meat Forum, with the participation of authorities to debate existing bottlenecks in sheep meat, in addition to increased consumption and better marketing”, he stresses.
The president of Abaco also reinforces the holding of the roasting competition, which aims to encourage the consumption of sheep meat, with grills that will represent races. “The intention is not to hold a dispute, but rather that whoever is circulating through the park to taste the meat of the most diverse sheep breeds”, stresses Velloso, adding that a large volume of animals must be received for the trials.
The 15th edition of Agrovino has the support of Emater/RS, the Brazilian Association of Sheep Breeders (Arco), Embrapa and the City Hall of Bagé, in addition to the sponsorship of Banrisul, Senar/RS, Hipra, Sicredi, Paramount, TTerrasul, Rede Conesul , the State Department of Agriculture and the State Government, through Fundovinos.
