The ordinary session this Tuesday (20) was marked by the election of the new Board of Directors of the Chamber of Councilors of Parobé. With a single slate and with 12 votes, councilor Betinho (PDT) won the presidency of the Legislative and will remain in office for the next two years.
“I am grateful for the opportunity, for the confidence of each fellow councilor. I also appreciate the word of everyone who didn’t vote for me. We live in a democratic country, where we have to respect each other’s opinion. I will be a president for everyone, impartial, committed, I promise that I will work in the community. I will do everything for the house to end the next two years in harmony”, declared Betinho shortly after being elected president.
Roberto Carlos dos Santos Pereira, better known as Betinho, is a second-term councilor, but has already contested six elections and held a seat in the Chamber for several years as an alternate councilor. From 2008 to 2012 he took over as substitute for the Democrats. With the end of the acronym in the municipality, he migrated to the PTB and was elected councilor in 2012 for the first time. His second election as a titular councilor was in 2020, with 684 votes, by the acronym PDT.
Betinho was born in Erval Seco/RS, where he spent his childhood and adolescence working in agriculture in the region. He migrated with his family to Parobé in 1990, in search of new opportunities. Before joining municipal politics, he also worked in the footwear sector.
