The Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, said again this Monday (29.Nov) that the health system has been preparing to fight covid-19 and its new strain. “It is not a variant of despair,” he said. ” We have health authorities committed to providing quality care to our population. We strengthen the capacity of our hospitals.”
At a press conference in Salvador, Bahia, the minister ruled out anticipating the interval of the 3rd dose because of Ômiron. “You can’t want a self-service science,” he declared. The booster dose should be applied when you were already vaccinated with two doses five months ago. Queiroga also stated that the treatment of the new variant must be the same as the other variants.
More vaccines
This Monday, the Ministry of Health signed a new purchase contract for 100 million doses of Pfizer’s vaccine for 2022. In addition to the 100 million doses, the contact also provides for the acquisition of another 50 million, should the need arise. The expectation is that the doses are delivered on a quarterly basis, with 20 million by March, another 25 million by June, another 35 million by September and 19.9 million in the last quarter. The contract also contemplates any change in the composition of the doses as new variants of Covid-19 appear, if necessary.
