The two babies who received the Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer last week, due to an error by a nursing technician, showed a worsening in their health. The case took place in Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo.
According to the UOL portal, the babies’ mothers reported that Miguel, 4 months old, may have been infected by a bacterium, while Liz, 2 months old, had three seizures.
The professional responsible for the error said that she confused the vial of the Pfizer vaccine with the one of the pentavalent vaccine, which should have been applied. The nursing technician was removed from the service.
– Right on the first day of hospitalization, Liz turned purple, and her eyes started to flutter […] The doctor said that I was emotional, nervous – said Ana Cláudia Mugnos Riello, mother of one of the babies.
According to her, the episode was repeated for three days, but hospital professionals would not have paid attention to what happened.
– I went out with her [a bebê] down the hall. A nursing technician came and said: “Oh, how strange! I’ve never seen it”, as if I were lying – said Ana Cláudia, reporting one of her daughter’s convulsions.
The babies are hospitalized in the Group for Research and Assistance to Children’s Cancer (Gpaci) since they received the vaccine, last Thursday (2). They were expected to be discharged this Wednesday (8), but the deadline was extended due to the worsening of Liz and Miguel.
