Azul will have regular flights at the Canoas air base, in Rio Grande do Sul, from June 1st, with the possibility of anticipation. Flights will take place daily to/from Viracopos Airport, from where customers will be able to connect with hundreds of national and international destinations operated by the company.
This measure was taken in response to flooding at Salgado Filho International Airport, which interrupted its operations indefinitely. Azul is the airline with the largest number of flights and destinations served in Brazil and has the largest network in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
The operation will depart from Viracopos International Airport, the company’s main hub, at 8:15 am, arriving in Canoas at 10 am. The return flights will depart at 11:30 am, arriving at 1:15 pm, in Campinas, with Embraer E1-195 aircraft. It is worth noting that, since last month, the company has reinforced its operations with extra flights to alternative airports in the state: Pelotas, Santa Maria, Santo Ângelo and Uruguaiana, with departures from Viracopos and Curitiba.
For these operations, the embarkation and disembarkation location will be ParkCanoas Shopping, which will serve as a base for customer service. Therefore, Azul advises that customers arrive at the location 3 hours before take-off time, as check-in will close 90 minutes before flight departures.
Extra operations
With the suspension of activities at Salgado Filho International Airport, Azul also announced 110 extra operations for the month of June 2024, relocating aircraft to new routes in Brazil. Sales are now available on the Azul website, at the sales center or at partner travel agencies. See below the schedules and frequencies of new Azul flights between Canoas (RS) and Viracopos (SP):
