On June 1st and 2nd, 2024, Aruba will welcome more than 2,550 runners from more than 30 countries for the traditional KLM Marathon on a route certified by AIMS/World Athletics, Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
During the sixth edition of the event, distances of 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km will be contested. Its route includes emblematic points such as Palm Beach, Eagle Beach and the famous California Lighthouse. Below are more details of the race itinerary: On Saturday, June 1st, the 5km (run or walk) will take place at 5:30 pm, and the expectation is that the majority of participants will finish the race at the same time. On Sunday, June 2nd, the marathon starts at 3:15 am. The half marathon, at 5:15 am, the 10km (run or walk), at 6:15 am.
“Beautiful landscapes, a pleasant climate and an organization that follows high international standards are part of the participants’ experience”, comments Jordan Schlipken, director of the Aruba Travel Authority for Latin America. “Runners will certainly feel, in addition to adrenaline, what we call the Aruba Effect, which is that feeling of happiness that remains with us even after the trip”, adds the executive.
“Brazil’s participation in the event has been growing with each edition, this year we will have almost double the number of Brazilians registered in various categories”, comments Carlos Barbosa, CEO of Vitrine Global, a company that represents Aruba exclusively in Brazil. “To promote local tourism, the initiative is extremely strategic, as on average each corridor takes almost three companions. It’s a great opportunity to combine business with pleasure and take advantage of the race period to rest with friends and family,” he concludes.
