The psychological suspense drama, THE MESSIAH, arrives at Max on April 29th. Created by Spaniards Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, also known as “Los Javis”, the production explores scars left by childhood trauma over decades, through the story of a family who struggles with their beliefs, hopes, fears and guilt .
The series presents the story of Enric, who suffers an anxiety attack after watching the viral video of a Christian pop band called Stella Maris, which is made up of six sisters who sing to the Virgin. The performance ends up revealing dark memories of his childhood, marked by religious fanaticism and a mother with messianic delusions. Determined to save these girls from the same abuse he suffered, Enric and his sister Irene begin a journey to find them, uncovering secrets from their own past.
Furthermore, THE MESSIAH brings to the public a multifaceted vision, with points of view that weave a familiar plot and delve into the individual search for identity and the possibility of overcoming the past.
The cast brings together Macarena Garcia, Roger Casamajor, Lola Dueñas, Ana Rujas, Carmen Machi, Albert Pla, Amaia Romero, Cecilia Roth, Nora Navas, Rossy de Palma, Aixa Villagrán, Gracia Olayo, among others. Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo are responsible for direction, script and production.
