Farroupilha will hold the 2024 Holy Week Live Fish Fair starting on Tuesday, March 26th, and will continue until Thursday, March 28th, at Largo Carlos Fetter, where the Rural Producers’ Free Market takes place.
The fair will start at 10am and run until 7pm, without closing at noon, with the exception of Thursday, when sales start at 7am. The expectation of the four qualified breeders is that around 14.2 tons of fish will be available to the population.
Pricing
There will be eight species sold at different prices: silver, Hungarian and bighead carp will be sold for R$ 22.00 per kilo; grass carp for R$25.00; and jundiá, pacu, tilapia and catfish species at a cost of R$ 27.00 per kilo.
The holding of the Live Fish Fair is a partnership between the Department of Agriculture, Emater, the Union of Family Farmers Workers of Farroupilha (Sintrafar), Cooperativa São João and the Veterinary and Zootechnical Inspectorate – IVZ of Farroupilha.
A technical manager hired by the stallholders for the event will be available on site. There will be no cleaning of fish on site.
