Consulate General of Italy in Porto Alegre continues, also in 2024, the movement towards getting closer to the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, where the Italian presence is even more deeply rooted. On March 14th and 15th, the Consul General of Italy in Porto Alegre, Valerio Caruso, fulfills a series of commitments in the cities of Rio Grande and Pelotas.
Caruso will honor the official appointment of the honorary vice-consul of Italy in Rio Grande, Vicente Touguinha Antonacci and will meet with the municipal mayor Fábio Branco, among other institutional programs. In Pelotas, in addition to visiting Mayor Paula Mascarenhas, the Consul General has a meeting with the Italian community at the Pelontense Italian Association.
The consular internalization movement is one of the innovations proposed by Caruso’s administration. Synthesized in the ‘Andiamo’ project, the initiative had, in 2023, seven stages in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. Itinerant consular services passed through Farroupilha, Carlos Barbosa and Bento Gonçalves and since the end of August they have been maintained permanently in Caxias of the South. In the Central region, the consular delegation was in Santa Maria and in the North region, in Passo Fundo and Erechim.
