Gravataí receives on Monday (18th), at 7pm, the CineSolar van, the first traveling cinema powered by solar energy in Brazil. The attraction will be set up at EMEF Presidente Getúlio Vargas, with environmental education and audiovisual language workshops for children and young people. On the big screen, short children’s films and the film “Sing 2” will be shown. Entrance is free, no ticket is needed.
According to the municipality’s director of culture, Rodrigo Silva, this is an initiative that not only promotes culture and entertainment, but also raises awareness of the importance of sustainability and the use of renewable energy.
Presented by the Ministry of Culture, this is the 7th Edition of CineSolar, which is made possible by the Federal Culture Incentive Law, with sponsorship from RGE, a company of the CPFL Energia Group, and support from the CPFL Institute and the Municipality of Gravataí, through from the Department of Culture, Sport and Leisure (SMCEL) and Education (Smed), and is carried out by Brazucah Produções and the Federal Government.
“Only 9% of Brazilian cities have cinemas. Furthermore, going to the cinema is an expensive program for families who spend money on tickets, transport and popcorn. In this context, CineSolar is an alternative to free, open-air cultural programming for everyone. After all, watching movies with friends is much cooler! And, in the first cinema in Brazil that runs on clean and renewable energy, it’s even better”, says Cynthia Alario, creator of CineSolar.
The CPFL 2024 Circuit will be held in 95 cities in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará and Rio Grande do Sul. In addition to the cinema sessions, which this year will also feature short films that bring Brazil closer to interesting and ancient Chinese culture, 52 workshops will be promoted in public schools, using audiovisual language and stop motion animation techniques.
