The Mayor of São Leopoldo, Ary Vanazzi, made official this Tuesday, 5th, Decree No. 10,698, which makes the use of personal protective masks mandatory in all spaces of the city’s public health network, including the Emergency Care Unit (UPA 24h), the Basic Health Units (UBSs), the Feitoria Health Center and the Hospital Centenário Foundation, both for professionals and patients.
The Municipal Health Department will provide masks to patients seeking care in these units. According to the city hall, the initiative aims to combat the increase in cases of flu syndromes, including suspected Covid, as well as the growth in cases and suspicions of dengue in the municipal network.
The municipality reinforced the need for the population to complete the vaccination cycle against Covid, accessing the UBSs to do so. With this objective, the opening of six UBSs with extended hours was announced: Paim, Vicentina, Padre Orestes, Brás and Cohab Feitoria Health Units will operate until 8 pm, while UBS Scharlau, close to the UPA in the North Zone, will operate until 10 pm .
