On the 19th, a significant meeting marked the union between Hospital Centenário and Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (HCFMUSP), within the scope of a revolutionary Obstetric Tele ICU project, promoted by the Ministry of Health. The in-person meeting, part of a training program in obstetrics and intensive care, symbolizes an important step in improving care for pregnant and postpartum women in high-risk hospital situations.
During the opening of the event, organized by the leadership of Hospital Centenário, Mariah Ramos Tomasin, in charge of digital health projects at Hospital das Clínicas, highlighted the relevance of the visit and practical activities, such as simulations. The simulated obstetric emergency practices were led by doctors Juliana Freitas, Lucas Borges, and midwife Keylla Regina Máxima Pereira. The presence of Aparecida Farias, technical advisor to the Ministry of Health, reinforces the importance of the event, which will continue in a new in-person session the following day.
The Tele UTI Obstetrica project is a comprehensive initiative that involves a 30-hour course aimed at healthcare teams, in addition to real-time training and consultancy to discuss clinical cases. Adopted by Hospital Centenário in October 2023, this program aims to offer healthcare professionals a second medical opinion and develop innovative methods for treating complex cases.
Teleconsulting, carried out by a multidisciplinary team that includes specialists in medicine, nursing, nutrition, psychology and physiotherapy, takes place through weekly meetings and 30 asynchronous classes through USP’s telemedicine platform. This program also includes in-person training focused on developing skills and competencies essential for reducing maternal mortality.
