Rodrigo Godoy, a 41-year-old endocrinologist, died last Saturday (10) after feeling unwell during a football match in Anápolis, located about 60 kilometers from Goiânia. Frederico Godoy, Rodrigo’s cousin and councilor for Solidariedade, reported that the doctor suffered a heart attack shortly after the start of the game.
“With about 5 minutes of football, he fell lifeless to the ground. Another friend, who is also a doctor, tried to do cardiac massage, but it was in vain,” said Frederico. Even with his friend’s attempt and the intervention of the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) for approximately 40 minutes, Rodrigo did not survive.
The parliamentarian mentioned that he met with Rodrigo shortly before the incident, portraying what happened as a “great tragedy”. Rodrigo Godoy leaves two children, aged 5 and 7. The doctor’s burial will take place at São Miguel cemetery, in Anápolis, at 3 pm.
“We don’t understand. A cousin of mine who is a doctor said he had never seen a heart attack like this,” said Frederico Godoy, emphasizing his confusion at the unexpected loss of his cousin, who was very physically active, engaged in activities such as beach tennis and football.
