A departure before its time: Fernanda Ferreira Martins died at the age of 16, a victim of dengue fever. Family and friends said their final goodbye to the teenager this Sunday afternoon (4), in Uruaçu, in the north of Goiás.
The teenager died on Saturday (3), at the Hospital Estadual do Centro-Norte Goiano (HCN). The hospital informed g1 that Fernanda had a serious case of dengue fever associated with very serious diabetic ketoacidosis.
At 16, Fernanda divided her work designing gel nails with her studies. She was a 3rd year student at the State College of the Military Police of Goiás (CPMG), who paid tribute at the teenager’s wake.
Despite being discreet, Fernanda used social media to show the work she was doing to attract more clients: “open schedule”, she announced. Publications that shared space with selfies were always well made-up and well-groomed.
The teenager was the daughter of businessman Daniel Borges and Isabel Ferreira, both from Uruaçu. To the sound of “Estrelinha”, by Di Paullo & Paulino with Marília Mendonça, the teenager’s mother published a tribute to her.
“Fly high, my little star and send strength to mommy here. Your departure is already greatly missed, my love. It stays forever alive here inside me,” she wrote.
On her parents’ social networks, the teenager always appears alongside her brothers. Fernanda died almost two weeks before her 17th birthday, on February 16th. In addition to this, Goiás has already recorded two other deaths from dengue.
