The Balé Folclórica Origens group, from Sapiranga, is preparing for an international journey. On February 4th, they will travel to Chile to be present at the XV International Festival of Latin American Folklore. The team of 12 dancers, led by teacher Janice Modinger, will have the honor of being the only representative from Brazil at the event.
This significant cultural festival will take place in the southern region of Chile, Los Rios. For 16 days, Sapiranga dancers will perform in various locations, including Lanco, Paillaco, La Unión, Niebla and Futrono. The repertoire chosen for this special occasion includes folk dances from Rio Grande do Sul and Pará, Afro-Brazilian rhythms and traditional Samba. The choreographies were carefully prepared by teacher Janice Modinger and choreographer Éverton de Oliveira.
“This is an opportunity, as going to a folklore festival in another country will give members the opportunity to get to know different cultures”, emphasized coordinator Janice. “It is a great honor for Ballet Folklorico Origens to be representing a country that is so rich in its cultural diversity. It’s a privilege and we’re doing our best to represent very well,” she concluded.
The group is maintained by Sapiranga City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat of Tourism, Culture and Sports.
