Businesswoman and digital influencer Aline Barone Barbosa, aged 37, died from a heart complication caused by dengue fever. The information was confirmed by the municipal secretariat of Siqueira Campos, in the pioneering north of Paraná, where the woman lived.
Her death occurred on Friday (26) in a hospital in the city of Jacarezinho, also in the north of the state, 12 hours after she was admitted.
According to the municipal epidemiology sector of Siqueira Campos, the previous weekend Aline traveled to Curitiba.
On Monday (22) she began to have strong flu symptoms, on Thursday (25) she was taken to the hospital in Siqueira Campos and was soon transferred to the hospital in Jacarezinho, where she died on Friday (26).
Now, the epidemiology team is investigating whether the case was “autochthonous”, that is, contracted in the city where she lived, or whether it was “imported”, from Curitiba.
Aline was buried on Saturday (27) in Siqueira Campos. She left behind a 22-year-old daughter.
Dengue cases in Paraná
The total number of dengue cases has been rising in Paraná in recent weeks.
In the latest bulletin from the State Department of Health (Sesa), released on January 23, 3,911 new cases and three deaths caused by the disease were indicated in one week.
A 39-year-old woman died in Mariluz, in the northwest of Paraná, a 58-year-old man in Cornélio Procópio, in the pioneer north, and an 82-year-old man in Cambé, in the north of the state.
The document also indicated that another 14 deaths recorded in January were under investigation.
In this epidemiological period of dengue, which began in July 2023, Paraná has more than 16,693 cases and at least five confirmed deaths.
According to Sesa, of the 399 municipalities in the state, 279, across all regions, have confirmed dengue cases.
A new bulletin should be issued this Tuesday (30).
Fight against mosquitoes
Dengue is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which can also cause other diseases such as zika and chikungunya.
