Monte Belo do Sul holds the 8th Harvest Opening Party on the 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th of January. The practice, as ancient as wine, was brought to Serra Gaúcha by the Italians, who introduced wine growing in the region when they arrived here, from the late 19th century.
Grape crush
At the festival, the grape crushing will have seven editions, six of which are aimed at the public – only at the opening of the event will the proposal be directed to sovereigns and authorities. In the collective treading, each group, made up of between 20 and 30 people, will tread on the grapes to the sound of tarantellas (typical music from Italian immigration culture).
The winemaking will be carried out by local winemakers, partners in the party promoted by the city of Monte Belo do Sul. The wine will possibly be finished by September.
International show and float parade
The 8th Opening Party of the Harvest will bring together a series of attractions in the city’s central streets, mainly on Rua Sagrada Família, in the section in front of the city hall. It is there that there will be wineries and restaurants with the best of local wine and gastronomy, a fair of products from entrepreneurs from Monte Belense and other places, within ExpoMonte, and an exhibition of agricultural machinery.
