Band premieres this Monday (15), at 10:30 pm, the acclaimed series Vikings. Written by Michael Hirst, the attraction is inspired by the stories of invasions, trade and exploration of the Nordics of medieval Scandinavia, exploring the life of the legendary Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his descendants. The broadcaster acquired the rights to broadcast the first three seasons, which will be presented sequentially.
The plot begins during the 8th century with Ragnar as a farmer and warrior frustrated with the policies of leader Earl Haraldson (Gabriel Byrne). He then decides to seek new horizons and starts leading large expeditions, facing various conflicts inside and outside his community.
The production, which debuted ten years ago, gained new characters and alternated the protagonism between Ragnar and his heirs, with emphasis on his wife Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), his children Björn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) and Ivar (James Quinn Markey), and best friend Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård). The series conquered the world exploring themes such as power, betrayal, loyalty, religion and social transformation, in addition to the experience of women in Nordic culture, revealing that they were freer than in other societies.
Praised by critics for its quality, intense battle scenes and striking performances, the series received 14 Emmy nominations and won the statuette in 2020 in the Best Special Visual Effects category, in addition to being nominated in two Critic’s Choice Television Awards categories in 2015. .
Vikings airs from Monday to Friday, at 10:30 pm, right after Perrengue do Dia, and at 11:30 pm on the Carioca Championship days.
