After a year of 2023 full of applause, with 21 performances and an audience of more than a thousand people, the renowned play “Terra sem Mapa” returns for another season from January 17th to 20th, at 8pm, as part of Porto Verão Alegre 2024, with performances in the Cultural Zone. “Memory is a land without a map, without a contour, without a border.” This is how Luba-Mirna and Vrum-Sergio move through their theater about migrations and crossings, exiles and encounters, life and death. In “Terra sem Mapa”, artists and their alter egos narrate stories, some melancholic, others good-natured, they sing and dance in a poetic celebration of existence, despite pain and deviations.
The play, a joint creation by Mirna Spritzer and Sergio Lulkin, is conceived as a tangle of memories where the two narrators, descendants of immigrants, share stories of their families and of many other people who find themselves in this situation: escape, crossing, migration . Dramaturgy is fed by literature, in particular Spanish-American production. The narrator characters, Vrum and Luba, transmute the texts into the living matter of the scene, becoming the voices of other memories, some melancholic, others good-humored. The show is built to inhabit any space, and the characters create the scene with their bodies, light and sound. There is no scenography and no accessories.
“Terra sem Mapa” features the artistic collaboration of Carlos Mödinger, costumes by Rô Cortinhas, lighting design by Ricardo Vivian, original music by Gustavo Finkler, visual identity by Leandro Selister and production by Mirna, Lulkin and Renata Stein. Tickets are available for purchase on the festival website, with prices varying between R$30.00 and R$60.00. On Saturday, January 20th, the show will feature the presence of a LIBRAS interpreter. The Cultural Zone is located at Av. Alberto Bins, 900.
