A 26-year-old man died after choking on a piece of meat in Maracajá, in the south of Santa Catarina. The victim, identified as Gustavo Prudêncio Pedro, was a physiotherapist and worked at a hospital in Criciúma.
The case occurred on Monday (1st). According to CCR Via Costeira, the concessionaire that manages the southern stretch of BR-101, teams from one of the highway stations provided first assistance to the young man, who arrived at the scene with symptoms of choking.
After first aid, the young man was taken to the Araranguá Regional Hospital. However, he did not resist and died in the unit.
Gustavo was the son of a Maracajá city hall employee. On social media, the municipality released a note about the case, in addition to offering solidarity to the physiotherapist’s family.
“In this difficult and painful time, the Administration offers its solidarity to family and friends, praying to God to comfort their hearts, giving strength and wisdom”, says the statement.
Gustavo’s body was buried this Tuesday morning (2) in Maracajá.
