By being covered by the RS Qualification program, the municipality of Nova Petrópolis will receive almost R$80,000 from the State Government to offer professional training courses to residents. The formalization of the agreement took place this Thursday, December 14th, in an event at the Salão Negrinho do Pastoreio, at Palácio Piratini, in Porto Alegre. Participants were governor Eduardo Leite, the secretary of Labor and Professional Development, Gilmar Sossela, the mayor of Nova Petrópolis, Jorge Darlei Wolf, and the municipal secretaries of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Rodrigo Santos, and of Education, Culture and Sports, Gislaine Marchioro Leal.
With approximately 23,177 inhabitants, Nova Petrópolis’s economy is based mainly on the sectors of services (52.8%) and industry (25.1%), areas that have faced difficulty in finding qualified labor – according to research carried out with the Commercial Association and Industrial of Nova Petrópolis (Acinp) and the sectors of the economy.
To meet the economic and professional demand of the municipality, the transfer of R$ 79,797.45 thousand from the State, added to the counterpart of R$ 23,939.23 thousand from the City Hall, totaling R$ 103,736.68 thousand, will be invested in training courses in digital marketing and social media and tour guide.
The courses that will be offered by the program in Nova Petrópolis were indicated by companies in the municipality, after being consulted by the Municipal Public Authorities about the areas where there was a greater shortage of workers. “This is expected to reduce the difficulty of finding qualified labor and expand the inclusion of young people in the job market in our city”, highlights Mayor Jorge Darlei Wolf.
Target audience and courses offered
According to the work plan approved in Qualifica RS, the National Community Schools Campaign (CNEC), a traditional institution throughout the country, with notable experience in professional training and represented in Nova Petrópolis by Colégio Cenecista Frederico Michaelsen, will be the responsible for teaching the courses. 20 vacancies will be offered for digital marketing and social media and 24 vacancies for tour guides.
Participants must complete 240 hours of classes, divided into 80 meetings, as a requirement for completion. The training is expected to last 12 months.
The target audience for the training are unemployed or unemployed people, aiming to prepare them to take on vacant positions in the city’s labor market due to a lack of trained personnel.

In addition to Nova Petrópolis, 201 municipalities were covered by the notice from the State Department of Labor and Professional Development, the results of which were released at the beginning of October.
