This Sunday, December 10th, the 26th Free Parade of Porto Alegre takes place at Parque Farroupilha (Redenção). The event, which takes place on International Human Rights Day from 12pm, is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity and plurality of the LGBTQIAPN+ population, as well as to defend their rights.
The Free Parade will feature performances by local artists, a parade of floats and a march that will run through the city’s main streets. In addition, there will be a series of services and actions aimed at health, education and social assistance for the LGBTQIAPN+ population.
Services and actions at Parada Livre
Porto Alegre City Hall, through the Municipal Health Department (SMS), will be present at Parada Livre with a team of professionals who will offer guidance on situations of prejudice or violence, in addition to health care.
On site, it will be possible to carry out HIV self-tests, receive condoms, lubricants and informational materials about tuberculosis and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Other services and actions will be offered on Rua de Direito, a space set up on site that will be dedicated to public institutions and civil society organizations in the areas of health, justice and social assistance.
On Rua de Direito, the public will be able to find:
Information about LGBTQIAPN+ rights;
Legal assistance;
Guidance on sexual and reproductive health;
Psychological support;
Social assistance services;
Booths of LGBTQIAPN+ organizations.
Schedule
The opening of the event will be at noon, on the esplanade of Parque Farroupilha. The departure of the march is scheduled for 4pm. Rua de Direito will be open to the public from 12pm to 4pm.
How to get
The event will feature free public transport for the LGBTQIAPN+ public. Buses will leave from Praça da Alfândega, in the Historic Center, from 10am.
