Eight weeks pregnant, the 18-year-old girl who went viral for expecting quintuplets suffered a miscarriage this Thursday (11/30). In a note published on social media, Renan Alves de Oliveira, 20 years old, and Sara Campos da Silva confirmed the loss of the babies and asked for everyone’s understanding.
“Sara is in a delicate moment, so we kindly ask for everyone’s understanding. Thank you”, says an excerpt from the statement.
The young woman was at a clinic to find out if there was a possibility of having a sixth baby in the womb. The couple discovered they were expecting quintuplets last week.
“It was a very high-risk pregnancy. Pregnancy with 2 babies is already very complicated. From 5, even more”, doctor Rogério Gama, who conducted the ultrasound, told G1.
The pregnancy of the young woman, who lives in Baixada Fluminense, in Rio de Janeiro, was considered rare: the estimate is one birth for every 60 million pregnancies.
