Torres hosts Christmas “Um Mar de Amor e Paz” between the 2nd and 23rd of December, always on weekends. The program begins with the arrival of Santa Claus this Saturday, December 2nd, from 7pm, on the main stage on Rua Céu de Led, on Rua Itapeva, along Praça XV.
Torres City Hall, through the Departments of Tourism, Culture and Sport, will leave everything well characterized to offer residents and visitors a pleasant and attractive city. A beautiful balloon, in captive flight, will be close to the stage, on the 2nd, to enhance the event even more.
Father Zezinho
The “Ir ao Povo” Group, created by Father Zezinho, is the attraction of Torres’ Christmas program. Versatile, with a repertoire of more than 400 songs, the “Ir ao Povo” Group is part of a project created by the Father, whose hallmark of his work is solidarity. “Ir ao Povo” will be this Saturday, on the Rua Céu de LED Stage, with its songs that express the dreams of the people, their anguish and their pain, as well as their hopes and their faith. Talented, friendly and dedicated to pastoral care since they were teenagers, Beto, Betinho, Ana Clara and Tiago, decided to put the gift of music to work. Noel’s arrival is a moment of enchantment and joy and the Christmas parade has the support of the São Domingos de Torres Parish, through Father Leonir Alves.
Santa’s house
Anyone who wants to get close to Santa Claus can go to his house, which will be set up in the Square, take lots of photos and deliver a letter with gift requests. The special program for this enchanting party, full of symbolism, will soon be announced, which can be followed on the City Hall website. The good old man will stay every Saturday and Sunday from 7pm to 10pm in the little house waiting for the kids to visit.
On the 2nd, around 7pm, the lights are turned on at the site. And from 7:30 pm, the Christmas themed parade will take place leaving the Santa Luzia Church, heading towards the main stage, accompanied by the Banda Fanfarra Mampituba and the Banda Marcial Alcino Pedro Rodrigues. Participating in the parade are Mayor Carlos Souza, the First Lady, Susi Souza, the Sovereign of the International Ballooning Festival, Vitória Garcia, the mascot Balonito, authorities and much more.
Mayor Carlos and the Sovereign hand the key to the city to Santa Claus. From here, Noel heads to his home in Praça XV where he will be available to take selfies and receive letters from the little ones. Between 7pm and 10pm, on the stage at Rua Céu de Lead, the party continues with entertainment and interaction from Duendes da Alegria, Christmas Train and the performance of the “Ir ao Povo” Group.
Domingo
On Sunday, December 3rd, the program continues with local performances, promoting the region’s culture. From 7pm onwards, the participation of CTG Porteira Gaúcha, from Vila São João, and soon, the stage will be attended by the band Rei ao Cubo and once again Duendes da Alegria and Comboio da Alegria, will lead the performances at the venue, from 7pm at 10pm. In turn, Santa Claus will also be there on Sunday, welcoming children to his home in Praça XV, where he will remain every Saturday and Sunday, from 7pm to 10pm, until the end of the Christmas program.
