José Gabriel Gomes Botelho is only 10 years old, but he can already be called a hero. With great agility, he managed to save his mother, public servant Lucirene Gomes Botelho, who was being electrocuted. In an interview with TV Globo, the boy thanked teacher Andreia who, days before, taught the students about the types of energy. “I remembered the class,” said the boy.
The scare happened last Sunday (19), when mother and son were alone at home. Lucirene told g1 that she was washing clothes in the machine and decided to clean the laundry when she got a shock.
“I put a washing machine here to wash carpets, I extended an extension cord. When I took off the six-pack, I realized that it had gotten dirty. I thought: ‘I’ll wash it, but first, I’ll take the extension cord so it doesn’t get wet because energized water is dangerous’. When I reached down, when I went to pick it up, the extension cord flew into my hand, throwing me against the wall. I fell to the ground, I was struggling.”
Upon seeing his mother struggling on the floor, the son ran to see what was happening.
“I went to see, my mother was having a shock. I thought: ‘She fell, I’m going to help her get up’. But when I got close to her, I saw that there was a network of energy pulling me to go towards her. After she said she was in shock and I saw the extension on her leg. I turned off the tap because the water was falling on it and if more water fell it would make the situation worse,” she explained.
He ran into the house and deactivated all the switches on the main distribution board. When the power was turned off, the shock stopped.

When the scare passed, the mother thanked her son for saving her life. José Gabriel thanked his mother and teacher: “I also have to thank my mother for teaching me how to turn off the circuit breaker and my teacher Andreia because she is giving me some lessons on energy. She took me there to Senac, showed me what various energies are like, such as nuclear, solar. This was one of those energies and I remembered the class”, said the boy.
