The free “Vem Brincar” project delivers toy library structures and storytelling workshops in São Gabriel (RS) between the 27th and 30th of November. The workshops aim to awaken the habit of reading in students.
Locations and times can be found below. The project has Libras interpreters and will have a monitor that will assist the public in the space and will guide participants with physical or visual disabilities or those with spectrum disorders, syndromes or illnesses that generate limitations.
Toy libraries
The toy libraries have 40 copies of children’s literature books, 10 of which are in Braille, 30 educational toys and 1 EVA mat kit. The storytelling will bring children the title “Julinha Relógio na Biblioteca”, by author Sérgio Vale, from Editora Komedi.
The book tells the story of Julinha Relógio, a happy and intelligent girl who undertakes the greatest adventure of all: getting to know life. It’s always time to learn and have fun when you have a reading habit. This is what Julinha Relógio discovers on her visit to the library, living with her friend Murilo the incredible and magical adventures that only books can provide.
In each school, a scenario will be built with elements from a library, which will contain objects that come from the characters’ imagination and help tell the story.
According to data from the 5th edition of the “Portraits of reading in Brazil” survey, from 2020, in the Southeast only 42% of the population is a reader. Encouraging reading from childhood is important for the reading scenario in Brazil to prosper.
