This Tuesday (14), a 23-year-old cyclist died in Avaré (SP). He was hospitalized after suffering a sudden illness during a mountain bike race held last Sunday (12). The information is from G1.
City hall confirmed the death of Victor Lima Duarte, this Tuesday. He felt unwell during the 55 kilometer route of the race and was taken to the Avaré Emergency Room. Afterwards, the young man was transferred to the Unesp hospital in Botucatu (SP), where he was intubated, but did not survive.
The cause of death was not disclosed by the health unit.
On the day of the competition, the temperature reached 36.9ºC, according to data from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).
Avaré’s sports secretary, Carlos Roberto dos Santos, lamented the cyclist’s death.
– Unfortunately, we received the sad news of his death this morning. May God comfort the family at this difficult time. Our thoughts are with them – said Carlos, in a note.
