Canoas will hold the 11th Free Parade next Sunday (19th). The event, organized by City Hall and the LGBT Municipal Council, will take place at Parque Eduardo Gomes, in the Fátima neighborhood, from 2pm to 10pm, with free entry.
The event is expected to receive two to four thousand people. The president of the Municipal Council, Jeaniffer Alves, highlights that the Free Parade is a moment to celebrate sexual and gender diversity, and also to fight against homotransphobia.
“Parada Livre is an important event for the LGBTQIAPN+ community”, says Jeaniffer. “It is an opportunity to show our existence and our strength, and also to denounce the violence that we still suffer.”
In addition to presentations by DJs and performances by drag queens, singers and dancers, Parada Livre will also feature activities to raise awareness about STI/AIDS prevention, and exchange information between activists and NGOs.
The acronym LGBTQIAPN+ covers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transvestite, transsexual and transgender people, queers, intersex, asexual, pansexual, non-binary and more.
