The 25 de Julho Cultural Center in Porto Alegre hosts the second edition of the Canta Maria Women’s Choir Festival on November 17th, Friday, at 9pm. The event will bring together, in a single night, performances by four different groups from Rio Grande do Sul. In addition to the host choir, Femina Vox, which is conducted by maestro Luciano Lunkes and has singer and actress Regina Schaumlöffel as vocal coach, are part of of the program is Donna Voce, also from the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, with conducting, co-repetition, vocal preparation and artistic direction by Ana Maria Ribeiro-Althoff, in addition to Elo de Vozes, by Bom Princípio, and Tramavoz, by Carlos Barbosa, both conducted by Martin Altevogt.
The program celebrates the diversity and uniqueness of the female choral repertoire, bringing to the public sets of different natures and proposals, with musical styles ranging from classical to contemporary. “Differentiating itself from most choir meetings, which favor choirs with mixed vocal natures, Canta Maria’s central focus is to provide a prominent space for the choral repertoire developed in the female register. The unique sound and the emotional depth provided by female voices make this event a unique encounter”, explains Luciano Lunkes.
Tickets for the program cost R$30 in full and R$15 for those entitled to half-price. Tickets can be purchased on the Sympla platform and at the reception of the cultural center (Rua Germano Petersen Júnior, 250).
