This Saturday, November 11th, Bike Day will take place in Porto Alegre, an event for cycling lovers. Starting at 9am at Orla do Guaíba, the event will feature cycling initiation workshops; security guards, signage and first aid when cycling; and basic maintenance and mechanics.
Bike Day also marks the opening of a space for the sports community. The site, built on Orla do Guaíba near Iberê Camargo, will have a container designed to meet the basic needs of cyclists.
In addition to being a meeting point for athletes, the space will provide bicycle parking, cold water, street furniture and a café. The project also foresees a frequent calendar with classes and workshops on road cycling, necessary equipment, techniques, and mainly traffic education using bicycles, in addition to the availability of a mechanic in special actions for repairing and maintaining bikes.
The project is carried out by the Brazilian Association of Nautical Sports – ABENA through the professionals and athletes of the FS Team and aims to encourage the use of bicycles as urban mobility, showing the economy of this type of transport that is so little used by the population, in addition to the health benefits of sport.
